Atik Mohammed has taken a swipe at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his administration of Ghana.
The President, who was re-elected in 2020, has been beset with lots of questions on his performance, particularly in his second term in office.
The President was bombarded with a question from a journalist on whether or not he has managed the economy well during his arrival at the New Patriotic Party's presidential election over the weekend but he declined to offer an answer.
"But Mr. President, would you say you have managed the economy well?", the journalist asked and the President, who was obviously unhappy with the question being asked during his party's internal election, responded; "You want me to come and have this interview here today" and walked off.
Though the President refused to answer what some critics have said was a right question at a wrong place or to others, a needless question, Atik Mohammed has shared his opinion on the management of the economy under the current administration.
Atik, speaking on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo" on Monday, November 6, described Nana Addo's performance as "terrible".
"It is just unfortunate that the second term in particular of Nana Addo has been terrible...His second term has been super, super terrible", he said.
He therefore advised the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who has been elected NPP flagbearer, to distance himself from the President's track record.
"If he doesn't do that, they are going to judge him not based on his own performance or what he brings to the table but on the sins of Nana and those sins will kill him", he stated, adding "I was happy to hear him say that he wants to introduce a fresh start. He is going to be a man of his own...he's bringing some new vision".
"He's set the tone for people to begin to assess him based on his own vision", he accentuated.

'Super terrible ' is an understatement. It has been a disaster. All these because the man is not ready to listen to advice. Maybe what what he has forgotten is that if the to be a president in Ghana was by examinations, he will never be president even within supporters of the NPP not to talk of every Ghanaian. Reshuffle your cabinet, you say NO, change your finance minister because he's not living up to expectation, infact he's not even an economist or accountant, you say NO, your speaker of parliament is too old, let's change him, you say NO. Some of your MMDCE's are not up to the task, replace them, you say NO. And these were suggestions coming from his own party people oooo. How can a minister be in 1 ministry for 7 years running? Roads and highways, transport, interior, defence, foreign affairs, national security, bet me, if Allan and Akoto had not resigned from their various ministries to persue their presidential ambitions, they would still have been at the trade and agriculture ministries. As if this is not enough the president doesn't even know those he will run to in times of need. Check the 2020 elections results. The NDC won in 9 regions with a margin of 1,151,292 and the NPP won in 7. Now in Ashanti region alone, the NPP beat the NDC by a margin of 1,142,675. Do the mathematics, the Ashanti region alone standing against the NDC 9 regions, the NDC will be leading the NPP with only 8,617 votes. The other 6 regions the NPP won will all be bonus. Now, the president visits such a key and vital region like Ashanti, the people of Kwabre east, where you got over 80,0000 votes, complain of the bad nature of their roads and all you can tell them is , if they want , they can go and vote for the NDC in the next election after all you don't hold their hands to thumbprint where to vote . Can you imagine this? Even wild dogs i.e. animals, don't attack people who feed them. I pray that this president doesn't follow Bawumia in the 2024 campaign, if he does, Bawumia should carry his hands on his head. Can Akuffo Addo look the people of Kwabre in their face and campaign in front of them. There is the saying that if your inlaw doesn't know how to squat well, you should know where to turn your face out of respect but this president doesn't know those who helped him 'yesterday '. He's behaving like " after all, i wanted to be president and i am".You just can't believe this was same person we knew pre 2017
Mr. Canadian plantain, can you tell us the origin of those plantains? Also note that the west including Canada are waging war with Putin that has direct economic implications on both divide. Have you heard of any leaders in Canada piling up foreign and local currencies in their bedrooms? Have you heard of the central bank of Canada losing billions of dollars in this economy? Have you heard of Canada receiving billions of aids and grants to cushion them in this economic situation? Ghana has not been a direct hit by either COVID or Russia Ukraine war. That doesn't mean there will not be an indirect implications, but how can the sympathiser cry more than the bereaved? Besides, the sympathiser has received a lot of aids due to their fragile nature. What is responsible for the price hikes and economic downturn in Ghana is not COVID or any war, it's simply economic mismanagement. Their over confidence, greed, borrowing mentality, unprecedented corruption and imposition of nuisance taxes have brought Ghana to where she is now.
Let Atik tell Ghanaians which country in the World today doesn't have economic difficulties. Here in Canada (on the Prairies), 1lb of plantain that was $0.9 is now selling at $1.45. Can you guys be objective to Ghanaians and STOP the deception? Regime Changers!
