Nana Akomea has rebuked Prof. Ransford Gyampo, the President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), University of Ghana Chapter, for passing what he describes as a derogatory comment about the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party and Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Nana Akomea, speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show Wednesday morning, quoted Prof. Gyampo as labeling Dr. Bawumia as a "remnant" in his criticisms against the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.
Prof. Ransford Gyampo is said to have used this term to qualify the Vice President to mean he is no different from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; hence, he (Bawumia) cannot be exculpated from what he (Gyampo) believes to be mismanagement of the economy.
The STC Chief Executive Officer, Nana Akomea, didn't take it kindly with Gyampo's assertions.
"Is that the way for a whole professor doing an objective debate to describe people? You describe Bawumia as a remnant...If you disagree with someone, you share your thoughts, but don't go and describe somebody as a remnant. It is disgraceful," he called out the professor.
Mr. Akomea asked Prof. Gyampo, who doubles as a Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, to be a good role model, stressing that "those of you who are leading academics, you have to show a better example."

This disgraced sex for grades so called Professor is making too much noise.
Leave Prof. Sex for grades alone
please the prof is working for his stomach, allow
So Akomea when bAWUMIA & Samira were calling a sitting president, JM a ***barred word*** where were u? Ursula called JM a ***barred word***, Otiko Djaba called JM a ***barred word*** nothing happened. Bawumia threw stones and he forgot he would one day live in a glass house. Karma at work
I certainly don't condone the use of derogatory words in politics and any other societal context. However, people shouldn't forget that Bawumia and his wife used all sort of intemperate language or names on Mahama in the run up to the 2016 elections, have they publicly apologized for those unfortunate events? For instance how is remnant more derogatory than incompetent? Or those were acceptable?
This professor comes from Prabiw Street, Saltpond. If we tell you story of Prabiw Street, nobody would engage him in any debate. There is a saying in Saltpond which goes 'Prabiw people who don't fear police' He should know that he has gone beyond those primitive tactics.
SO is it because of the word remnant. In any case Bawumia is he or will he be a remnant. This is not derogatory in the least.
Ghana is suffering from leadership crisis, it’s very sad to see well educated people running the country this way.
I side with Akomeah on this issue. Gyampo could have still made his point without using derogatory words. The world is a very small place. You never can tell when and where you will somebody. It is not for anybody to say to another that " i don't want anything from you" thus using unprintable words on others.
in any discourse its better we keep our language low to give each other the needed respect.leadership is not an insult, coming from mr gyanpoh is sad.
