The NDC Member of Parliament(MP) for Afram Plains North constituency, Betty Krosby Mensah, has described a recent comment made by the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markins about the ability of Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as running mate of the NDC Flag bearer to lead the party in future as unacceptable and misguided.
Betty Krosby Mensah made the statement at a press conference in Accra.
"Afenyo-Markin's comment about Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang comes at a time women in the country want the Affirmative Action Bill passed to guarantee equal rights and inclusivity for all marginalised groups," Betty Krosby Mensah stated.
The Afram Plains North MP said, as the first female Vice Chancellor of a public university in Ghana and a former Minister of Education, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang ought to be celebrated for her contribution to national development rather than being ridiculed.
"Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang's reselection as running mate of the NDC serves as evidence of her leadership qualities, wisdom and commitment towards advancement of the nation," the Afram Plains North MP stated.
