Former President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed claims that the 'Agyapadie’ document, making rounds in the media is a fabrication, stating that its implementation is evidence of its authenticity.
Akufo-Addo's fabrication claim
Speaking at the Ghana Report Summit under the theme ‘Dealing with Misinformation and Disinformation in the Upcoming Election’, President Akufo-Addo, referenced the 'Agyapadie' document claiming it was orchestrated to tarnish his reputation.
President Akufo-Addo described it as a fabrication and a baseless accusation.
Mahama's response
However, addressing a mini Durbar of chiefs and people in Bawku, Mr Mahama challenged those who claim the document is fake to explain why it's being implemented.
He questioned that If someone had fabricated what was contained in the Agyapadie document then that person was very creative to have known what was on the mind of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“We need to hold this government accountable for the hardships; the crisis that they’ve subjected Ghana to. For the State capture that they’ve implemented in Ghana over the last eight years. Buying State property, buying all the government lands, amassing wealth for themselves...Recently there was a document called ‘Agyapadie’ and they said it’s fabricated. But even if it’s fabricated, the implementation is not fabricated because everything that is written in that document has been implemented.
He said "If really somebody sat and fabricated that document, then the person can really read the minds of people because how they could have written that document and read the minds of Nana Akufo-Addo and his family that this is what they were going to do, that person is a proper creative writer because everything in that document has been implemented, and so the implementation cannot be fabricated”
He further insisted that the ruling Akufo-Addo-led government "must be held accountable, and that is why Nana Addo says he will not hand over to John Dramani Mahama because he knows that when I come, I will hold him and his family and his government accountable for what they’ve done"
