Chiraamanhene, Barima Mintah Afari II has called on the youth of Chiraa, in the Bono region to rally their support behind the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Dramani Mahama, as he promises a 24-hour economy policy.
During a campaign tour to Chiraa, John Dramani Mahama was received warmly by the Chiefs and people of Chiraa.
Addressing the youth and people of Chiraa, Barima Mintah II said, “I have lived in the United States so I understand the 24-hour economy system. This is my personal view about the policy. It is a good initiative so I will urge all the youth to embrace it."
If business centres are already operating a 24-hour system, then why don’t you think it should be enforced?”
Barima Mintah Afari II further admonished the Electoral Commission to ensure that peace reigns even after the results have been declared.
“We are closest to election 2024. The ruling NPP is campaigning likewise the NDC. All that Ghanaians are requesting for is for peace to prevail after the electoral commission has declared the results without any controversies.”
Citing the electoral dispute which was later resolved in the Supreme Court, Nana Barima Mintah II said, “when petitions were sent to the Supreme Court in 2020, the Supreme Court adjudicated and the verdict was that, elections are we won at the polling station, so everyone should protect his ballot box.”
He further advised the various political parties to select knowledgeable and trustworthy, as polling station agents, not persons who are indiscipline and would want to be moving anywhere.
“I want to use this medium to tell Madam Jean Mensa not to be the conduit to electoral violence. I know she is a mother who loves all her children, hence I know she, together with Mr. Bossman Asare will be truthful in discharging their duties.”
“We need peace and for peace to come we need justice," he said.
