Atik Mohammed has charged Ghanaians to rise and compel the Akufo-Addo government to take action against galamsey operators in the country.
The former Chief Scribe for the People's National Convention registered his displeasure with what he termed as a lackadaisical attitude of the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, towards galamsey.
According to him, the government is showing less commitment to the fight, hence calling on the citizenry to embark on protests to tell the President about their dissatisfaction with his seeming silence over the matter.
"There must be series of demonstrations and symbolic speeches to indicate to the government that we are unhappy with what is going on...It is a sad situation and it's even sadder that the government is not committed to fight against galamsey.
"But we, as citizens, must rise up and demand from our government to do something about it, otherwise we will be importing water into this country; already we are seeing the signs", he asserted during Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' show.
