Alfred Quarshie, the independent parliamentary candidate for the Effiduase-Asokore constituency, in the Ashanti region, has withdrawn from the upcoming 2024 general elections.
According to him his decision to bow out from the election is due to personal reasons beyond his control.
In a letter dated October 7, 2024, addressed to the Ghana Electoral Commission, Quarshie requested to withdraw his candidacy for the Effiduase-Asokore parliamentary seat.
He expressed regret to his supporters for having to take such a decision.
“I write to humbly request to redraw my application submitted to contest in the Parliamentary Elections of Effiduase-Asokore Constituency in the upcoming 2024 general elections in December.
“My withdrawal is necessitated by reasons beyond my reach, hence have no option but to take this unfortunate action. I apologise sincerely for any inconveniences this development might cause the commission.”
This announcement comes just months before the December 2024 general elections.
