Citi FM's Expressions of Accra 2013, themed Creative Explosion has been launched in Accra on Friday.
The event which seeks to highlight an explosion of creativity would highlight originality, expressiveness and imagination in the creation of fashion.
Expressions of Accra which is being organised by the Citi FM lifestyle department and in collaboration with the Weekend Globe newspaper, is our contribution to putting Ghanas fashion industry on the international arena programmes manager at Citi FM, Jessica Opare-Saforo stated.
Speaking at the launch of the event, the programmes manager at Citi FM, Jessica Opare-Saforo stated that Citi FM is on a mission to dispel the ideology that everything good comes from abroad and also to fan flames of excitement about the local fabrics hence our strategic partnership with GTP.
This years edition, seeks to unearth the unusual, the New, the outrageous. The elements that we are working with in envisioning the creative explosion include: water, earth, fire and wind.
Water: would be a representation of life and birth, thus what Ghanaians wear to events like outdoorings and naming ceremonies.
Earth: would be a representation of death, thus funeral.
Wind: would be a representation of weddings or engagements
Fire: would represent special occasions and events like festivals, parties, a formal lunch or dinner, beach get together etc she added.
Designers for the 2013 edition of Expressions of Accra include, AfroMod Trends, Elikem Kumordzie the Tailor, Ameyo, Maksi Clothing, SA4A Designs, Horseman Shoes and a guest designer from Zimbabwe, Pokello Nare.
The fashion show would be fused with drama, poetry from Nana Asaase, live band music from K.K Fosu and the patch band as well as rib cracking comedy from Nigeria funny man Bash.
This years event is being sponsored by GTP, HFC bank, Airtel and Sleek cosmetics.
