BARELY FIVE months since it released its last movie titled, ‘The King Is Mine’, Venus Film productions, one of Ghana’s market leaders in local movie production, is making a return this month with a similar royal picture titled, ‘Prince’s Bride’.
The movie, which features promising stars such as, John Dumelo, Yvonne Nelson, Ingrid Alabi, Beverly Afaglo and fresh-face Suraya Mensah, as well as some recognizable stars, is a tale of treachery, abhorrence, love and passion. ‘Prince’s Bride’, will be premiering at the Silverbird Cinemas at the Accra Mall on August 14.
This will be the first time Venus Films is premiering a movie at the Silverbird Cinemas.
However, it is not the first for the latter, after it expressed an interest in promoting local movies at its Cinemas. Last Friday, the movie was previewed for a section of the Ghanaian press at the Silverbird cinemas ahead of the big event.
The movie, directed by Frank Raja, came off as being one of Ghana’s few movies with multiple themes.
‘Prince’s Bride’, tells the story of Prince Akila played by John Dumelo, who accidentally ran his H2 Hammer into an aspiring beautiful queen, Solange (Yvonne Nelson). Touched by his striking looks, Solange draws a plan to get the Prince to fall in love with her.
They became close friends. On their first date however, Solange invites her best friends along, and that sets the tone for the conflict and thrills in the movie.
The Prince upon seeing Bernice, played by Jackie Appiah, one of Solange’s friends, falls for her and goes on to propose marriage, asking Solange to be the bride’s maid. However, Solange sets out to frustrate Bernice by any means, to keep the Prince.
The movie subsequently unfolds into two worlds; the living and the dead.
The rest of the cast includes Kalsoum Sinare, Gavivina Tamakloe and Roger Quartey. The premiere is expected to be a bona fide big event, with a lot of stars passing through. John Dumelo told BEATWAVES that his role in the movie was challenging and called on Ghanaians to support the movie industry.
