I’m Disappointed In Fella Makafui—Movie Producer

The popularity of Sister Derby’s new single, Kakalika Love, is not really surprising considering that Ghanaians love gossip and the song seems to be a diss against her ex-boyfriend, Medikal’s new relationship with actress, Fella Makafui.

The popularity has been fueled by the Kakalika Love dance challenge through which the singer is giving cash rewards to the most creative dancers.

It was only a matter of time before people exploited the song’s popularity, so when a new movie popped up with the same title, there was no surprise there. The surprise, however was that Fella Makafui was playing a lead role in that movie.

It didn’t take long for the fallout to begin; Fella Makafui posted the movie’s poster on her Instagram page asking her fans to ignore the movie. She stated that the production was a scam and that she had not featured in any movie with that title.

However, the producer of the movie, Samuel Degraft Yeboah, says he is disappointed in the actress’ actions, claiming she is lying.

“She is lying, Fella is not telling the truth. Honestly, I was disappointed when she put that post up and didn’t want to talk about it but you see, my brand is at stake. I cannot sink money into something and then allow someone who I gave a chance to, to ruin it like that.

“It takes a lot to build a brand so for her to say that, it is not a good thing and it should not be allowed,” he told Showbiz.

Explaining the issues, Samuel Yeboah said, “You know, when you are shooting a movie, you have a working title so when you are done, you either choose to retain that title or change it.

“For us, we didn’t have a working title so after the shoot, we sat down and thought of what name to give it, which is usually done. We remembered that there was a trending issue, so we gave it that name.

“When we chose that name, we tried getting in touch to tell her team the developments but none of them picked our calls. We were working with a timetable too and I had other things to attend to so we let it go, only for her to now think it wise to return my calls.

The most annoying part of it all is that she even put a red mark on the poster saying it is fake, who does that,” he asked.

According to the producer, all the controversy did not affect the movie’s premiere, which came off at the University of Cape Coast on December 7.

“I didn’t know what she was thinking, she thought it was going to affect us but the turnout was great as people came to confirm if indeed it was a scam or real.

"And they saw for themselves and saw Fella in it so the question is, if Fella says it was fake then what was she doing in the movie,” he queried.
