Mr Azonko Simpi, Founder of the Classic African Orchestra, has called on parents to help their children to develop their potentials, especially in music, as its contributions to development could not be underestimated.
He said since most children were not being exposed to authentic African music, especially, folk tunes of Ghana, they did not see the significance of portraying African culture to the rest of the world.
Mr Simpi said these on the second day of Founder�s Day African Orchestra Concert in Accra on Saturday.
According to him, inculcating in young people the values of traditional and folk music was the best way to ensure that they develop the passion for such music.
Mr Simpi said the concert had offered people the opportunity to enjoy good African music, and to be educated on how such music came about and the names of the composers.
He said that as part of the event, portraits of some orchestra music legendaries like Tata Afraim Amu were displayed for the public to pay homage to, for their massive contribution towards upholding African culture through music.
The Classic Africa Orchestra is a group that sees music as one of the golden keys to Ghana�s socio-economic development through its study, practice, performance, production and marketing to create regular and temporal jobs for several people.
