Sensational singer Deborah Cox is hoping to use her trip to Ghana to inspire others in the US and people in the Diaspora to come to Ghana.

She noted that coming to Ghana to experience the country’s warmth and hospitality is priceless. It is an experience one can never get by just reading stories online.

The Canadian-born singer told Joy FM Friday that, the most important thing about her trip is “the opportunity to share and tell my own children…”

“It’s one thing to talk and to see a lot of things online but to be here in the flesh and to really experience it The place, the people, music, that’s priceless so I want to be able to walk away with all these experiences and be able to just share it and inspire people to come back. To come and visit more,” the ‘sentimental’ singer said.

The never ageing Deborah Cox, now 45, touched down at the Kotoka International Airport Thursday evening.

She is in town for the Ghana World Music Festival; an event which is part of a long list of activities earmarked for the celebration of the Year of Return.

This year is exactly 400 years after the first enslaved Africans arrived in Jamestown, Virginia.

She will be performing at the two-day concert – August 3 and August 4 - at the Fantasy Dome at the Trade Fair alongside other great musical talents.

Ghanaian music maestro Kojo Antwi, reggae and dancehall artiste, Samini; Jamaican reggae band, Third World; Jamaican Jazz and reggae artiste, Ernie Smith; Jazz artiste, Irvin Mayfield, Lamisi and a host of others are set to thrill patrons at the concert.

Touching on the concert, Deborah Cox said the event is not only about coming to “perform but to be a part of a movement, to be a part of a teachable moment, to be able to celebrate soul music from all different parts of the world…”

She is excited to be sharing the same stage with other great acts billed to perform at the Ghana World Music Festival.
