One of the Tanzanian housemates in the ongoing Big Brother (6) Amplified reality show Lotus has being disqualified from the game today Friday May 20, 2011, on day 20 in the BBA house and asked to leave the house immediately.
The 24 year old TV presenter went against Big Brother rules and physically assaulted South African male housemate Luclay. Lotus and Luclay got into a heated argument this morning, over nationality issues. During a Head of House (HoH) task this morning in the Tails house where housemates were supposed to memorize the currencies of various countries, Lotus told the guys how she had forgotten to write the South African currency during the Head of House Task, and kicked herself for missing it, saying she had concentrated more on the European countries and by the time she went through the African countries, she could only write a few.
Luclay took offence, saying she had no respect for her host country South Africa. He went on and on insisting that Lotus ignored South Africa on purpose to disregard his country. He continued insinuating that Lotus had ignored South Africa on purpose because she didn't know that South Africa uses the Rand as their currency.
"You're disrespecting me now," Lotus warned; Luclay apologized causing Lotus to cry and they then lashed out at each other, throwing insulting words.
By the time the rest of the Tailsmates got on the scene to salvage the situation, the exchanges had gone overboard, it was too late, with Lotus really losing her cool and hitting Luclay twice in the face. The other housemate calmed their nerves down and separated the two.
Per Big Brothers rules, under no circumstance should any housemate go physical to the extent of hitting a fellow housemate. Any Housemate who becomes physically violent will be removed from the House immediately.
In addition, the Rules also make it very clear that: Housemates will be disqualified by Big Brother if they have broken any of the rules or undermined the world of Big Brother. The mood in the house was very somber and quiet as Big Brother made the official announcement of Lotus disqualification. Kim cried as they helped Lotus pack her clothes in the bedroom. Nic, Danny, Karen, Mumba and Kim helped Lotus with her stuff and she remained calm. Lotus has since left the house on her way back home.
Big Brother stated that the confrontation, however, involved two parties adding that his behaviour was also provocative, and even though Lotus asked him to stop he continued provoking her. Luclay who had separated himself from the other housemates after BBs announcement was seen crying in the couch outside whiles Bhoke and Kim consoled him.
For his punishment, Luclay will take over all dish washing duties as well as House cleaning duties while he remains in the House. "These duties will be yours and yours alone. Your treatment of your fellow contestants and your language will be under very close scrutiny at all times," Big Brother said to Luclay.
After the controversial task which led to Lotus disqualification, Nic from Kenya won the task and is therefore the new Head of House (HoH) for the upcoming week. There was a bit of tension after Lotus exit from the house.
A similar incident happened last year during Big Brother (5) All Stars, when Hannington from Uganda was disqualified from the game for hitting South African housemate Lerato whiles they were in the barn house.
Meanwhile Nkuli (South Africa), Kim (Zambia), Luclay (South Africa) and Mumba (Namibia) are up for eviction this week. The game is getting hotter and hotter by the day.
