To say that Mercy Johnsons recent wedding was star-studded is an understatement. The whole of Nollywood rose in unison for one of their own. But there were still a few, both male and female movie stars who were missing at the event.
In as much as Mercys wedding was well-attended and a lot of them used the avenue to hook up with some of their colleagues who they have not seen for a long time, there are some who really missed out on the show.
Though some of them ought to have been there, yet were nowhere to be found. Some even used to be very close to the bride, while some are related to her. Such of them like Halima Abubakar, who did not only come from the same state as her but also has a very cordial relationship with her.
Both Mercy and Halima used to be very close that they went to events and locations together - before they parted ways for reasons best known to them.
From what we gathered,a lot of her colleagues both male and female decided to stay back in the United Kingdom for one reason or the other, just to have an excuse on why they could not attend
Some tied their absence to Uche Jombos movie premiere while some said it was because of the Nottinghill Carnival. Some of these stars include Tonto Dikeh who, some time ago in her interview, revealed that they were never friends, though it is obvious that both actresses dont see eye to eye.
In fact gist has it that they both obviously battle for supremacy.
Despite the fact that a lot of A-List stars which include Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Okereke, Patience Ozokwo, Jim Iyke, Mike Ezuruonye,to mention but few were there, some also missed out.
People like Ini Edo whom we gathered used to be very close to Mercy,as well as Oge Okoye, Chioma Chukwuka, Dakore Egbuson, Stella Damasus were nowhere to be found at this wedding.
Gist has it that the caucus thing that is going on in the movie industry also contributed to the reason why some of them did not attend - for instance, Emem Isongs caucus,it was obvious that a lot of the stars that belong to her group did not show up, stars like Monalisa Chinda, Susan Peters, Desmond Elliot, Stella Damasus and even Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.
Though a lot of them revealed that the celebrant did not invite them but Omotolas case was the reverse, as a table was reserved for her, showing that her name was on the guests list.
