February 14 was celebrated differently at Tigo this year as over 200 employees showed up in locations across the country to spend time with students at the Akropong School for the Blind and The Dzorwulu Special School; inmates of the Kumasi Prison; the Ghana Blind People’s Union; the Weija Leprosarium and the Maternity units of the Effia-Nkwanta and Komfo Anokye Hospitals.
Tigo donated cash, assorted food items, toiletries and toys to the institutions and the people they serve.
It was a fun day as artistes, Mz.Vee, Kwaw Kesse, Cweci Oteng, Root Eye and TV host DKB ensured everyone was thoroughly entertained. There was a lot to eat, drink and dance to.
Tigo also partnered with TV3 to host a Blood donation drive and several of the company’s Change Leaders joined other donors to support the Korle Bu blood bank.
For Tigo, it was important to spend a day like February 14 with the people who most need love and support and the selection of beneficiaries was a deliberate one.
“Giving back to the society in which we operate is not just a moral responsibility, it’s a business imperative and Tigo recognizes this”, the company stated.
