The Chief Executive Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr Kojo Bonsu, has called on corporate bodies, institutions and traders in the Ashanti Region to strategically position themselves and take advantage of the numerous business opportunities which the Easter festivities present.

The KMA Chief Executive said this at the launch of a programme planned for this year’s Easter period, dubbed, “Kumasi Easter Festival”.

Activities for the occasion, spread over a period of four days, are expected to attract many people from all over the country and abroad.
The programme is being organised by the KMA in collaboration with the TV3 Network. It is expected to provide insights into the tourism potential of the metropolis. During the period visitors to the city would be sent on guided tours to historic sites and communities to experience at first-hand the rich culture of the inhabitants. Extended tours would be organised to other places outside the city.

According to Mr Bonsu, besides the warm hospitality of the people of Kumasi, the metropolis also boasted excellent facilities, particularly in terms of accommodation, which makes the city the best place in the country to celebrate the Easter.

According to the programme line-up, a street carnival to welcome indigenes back home would be held at Bantama on Easter Friday.
Music on the occasion would include a repertoire of Ghanaian music spanning all genres. There will also be comedy displays from some well known local comedians, including the likes of Lil Win, Akrobeto and Nigerian international comedian, Basket Mouth. Shows during the period will be aired live on TV3.
On Easter Saturday, the city will host a grand sale of goods produced in the region on the streets of Bantama. The event will be interspersed with highlife and closed in the evening with comic shows.
There will be a walk on Sunday through some principal streets of Kumasi, which is expected to attract a lot of people. The walk will be followed later in the day with a food bazaar, also on the streets of Bantama.
In the evening of Easter Sunday, a special show, dubbed an “All white Night ” will be held. On the night, patrons attending the programme will be expected to wear an all-white attire with white handkerchiefs to match.
The four-day festival would be climaxed on Easter Monday with a family day-out with visits to areas like the Kumasi Zoo, the Kumasi Recreational Centre, the Manhyia Palace Museum, the Barikese dam and the Lake Bosomtwe.

Mr Bonsu gave the assurance that there would be adequate security measures in place in order to ensure the safety of all participants.
