Reigning Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. popularly known as Shatta Wale lost his cool live on radio during an interview over the weekend.
The “Kakai” hit maker was called to respond to reports of a reconciliation between him and Samini on Peace FM’s “Entertainment Review” show last Saturday January 23, 2016; but the interview didn’t go as expected.
After Kwasi Aboagye, host of the show had a cordial exchange of pleasantries with Shatta at the beginning of the interview, Shatta decided to use the rest of the time to address a personal issue he has with the host. Thus ignoring to speak to why he was called in the first place by producers of the show.
Listen to how it all happened.
Kwasi Aboagye believes some of the comments Shatta Wale made to him on radio are actual statements of threat, and has therefore made an official complaint at the National Police headquarters with a copy of the interview.
The award winning artist was riled with the host for comments the latter reportedly made on the same platform a week earlier calling on the Board of the Ghana Music Awards not to nominate him for an award this year due to his inconsistency.
A couple of weeks ago, the controversial dancehall artist disclosed that he will submit his songs for nomination for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) irrespective of the fact that he has issues with organisers of the awards, Charter House; which he did subsequently.
Last year, he warned Charterhouse Productions Limited, not to nominate him and that if they did, he would sue them. This followed a pending court case between him and Charterhouse over series of videos he posted on social media that the latter felt was defamatory to their Chief Executive Officer and the company as a whole.
Though Shatta Wale has submitted his nomination forms "because of his fans", the decision to nominate him or not is yet to be taken by the board.
Akwasi Aboagye, had on his show a fortnight ago said, he believed it was the artist himself who wanted to be part of this year's VGMA and not necessarily because his fans wanted him to.
The comments appeared not to have gone down well with the "Dancehall Commando" hitmaker, thus when he was called on the show to clarify matters relating to the settling of differences between him and Samini, he gladly seized the opportunity and vented his spleen on Akwasi Aboagye for his uncomplimentary comments.
