The name of one of the famous local actresses, Matilda Asare, has reportedly come up for consideration as Deputy Minister for Creative Arts.
The popular actress played key role in the campaign of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) as the National Coordinator for the Agya Koo Agenda 57% For Nana Akuffo.
Together with other local movie stars, SHE combed through villages to campaign for change in the run up the December 7.
Matilda Asare was particularly known for jabbing the President Mahama-led administration for its poor handling of the energy crisis and the economy and was reported to have warned Ghanaians that the dumsor will return should the NDC retain power.
Sources close to the NPP indicate that the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Graduate, who is currently nursing her baby, could be considered for a ministerial post because of her knowledge in management and the creative arts industry.
She is the second movie star whose name has come up for consideration after that of Socrate Sarfo, who has also been linked with similar position.

How can those who sat aloof be called to serve, when equally qualified people devoted their time and resources to ensure that the party comes to power for them to serve? They have worked for it, so they must have it. To whom did the NDC offer appointments? Nana Addo is a matured politician and will not fall for all that you are saying. Do you want to benefit from both parties? What about the rest, who have lost everything and have been intimidated all these years. Please!
Please stop this subtle solicitation
Eiiii Ghanafo) kasa! Where were some of u when she was being bombarded for her political affilliation ? If she qualifies, what stops them from appointing her?
Mr.Serwaa...Lol..we've been following the comments you post here, you are Ndc member, stop this your new fake Love for the npp,you this you can create confusion in the npp?we in the npp are smarter than this. Onapoo 😀
What are you guys talking about Do you know how long how many years some us have been working on getting Nanainto the Jubiliea house even we are not asking for any position let alone this new comers,
@ Seth I agree with you a 100%... NPP don't just appoint minister's,they are very clever in doing that so should they appoint Matilda is not a negative idea
Maltida Asare,Master of Business Administration (MBA) Graduate and active player herself in the creatives art industry, She campaigned for Nana vigorously,She is a Ghanaian, GuYs she is more than qualified for this appointments nothing stops the president elect from appointing her.
President elect Nana Addo should be very careful in choosing his Ministers and deputies. The idea of rewarding his followers with positions that rather require very competent and qualified personnel must be shunned. Being an actress and campaigning for Nana should not necessarily mean a merit for the position. The creative industry is one that needs a total overhaul. It requires a lot of attention and must be headed by a very experienced person who understands the dynamics of the arts in Ghana. The lack of Ghanaianness in creativity especially in the area of music, the absence of any Ghanaian literature and content in our movies and other art forms in general, the appetite for other cultures than our own. These and many more issues needs to be addressed. It requires competence.
