Actor John Dumelo is of the opinion marking Ghana’s Independence Day is unnecessary because there is “nothing to celebrate.”
“Pupils lie on their stomachs to study in Yikurugu, UER, teachers teach IT with no computers all over the country etc. Yet we budget millions to celebrate 6th March?” reads part of the message posted by Dumelo on Twitter on the occasion of Ghana’s 61st Independence Day.

On 2nd thoughts there’s nothing to celebrate. Pupils lie on their stomachs to study in Yikurugu, UER, teachers teach IT with no computers all over the country etc. Yet we budget millions to celebrate 6th March? Ghana without aid starts with us getting our priorities straight.

John has indeed expressed his opinion. In this case, we need to examine his comments critically. The contents of his comments are factual and cannot be hidden. Some of us who have the privilege to travel around the world really appreciate the contents of his comments. Let's not allow politics to prevent us expressing our thoughts or ideas to the growth of our Nation. In a country where individual's comments are not accepted because of political party, such country will continue to experience fundamental challenges as featured in recent time in the country.
I will simply say this: if you are irrelevant, you are irrelevant no matter how hard you try. What is the next important issue to be discussed please?
A black man only talks when he is hungry. When you were dancing edey bee k3k3, you didn't know that school kids were laying on their stomach? Prez Trump "come for your stone"
Ah! ah!! ah!!! .. This boy too. Since when he tought of this?Is it because he's no more going to get free money from the Government? but Ghana koraa how on earth could this boy who knows nothing could be an ambassador? Hmmm well u better tell John Mahamma.
If you spend 10 or 15 minutes in Gaza, Benghazi or Syria; you will know there’s something to be celebrated in Ghana. Like the peace n internet services u enjoy to write the rubbish. A$$h01E!
“Baby with little brain”.These guys are some of the reasons why I am reluctant to vouch for a younger and inexperienced persons to very important political offices. Because, they are simply immature and inexperienced to take a nation like ours through a global political storm. This boy, Dumelo, but for acting is nobody. Notwithstanding, due to political expediency the former Prez. Mahama gave him national resources to campaign in a disguised name of youth ambassador. Today you are asking why some pupils are studying under trees. When you were campaigning didn’t you come across same situation? Did you tell Mahama or did you stop him from celebrating the 59th Independence Day Anniversary?
it is fascinating how folks suddenly become wise when their parties are in opposition. May NDC continue to be in opposition so that Dumelo will remain wise. Amen
Dumelo go bed na gyae gyimigyimi no
You had the nerve to buy a state vehicle for cheap because of your political affiliation, and yet you think we as a people who do not have such privileges have misplaced priorities? Don't bring yourself, oga!
How could there be anything to celebrate when you selfishly accepted two stolen cars that could have built 12 elementary school classrooms. Don't you know shame a bit? When people like you and NDC members who think of themselves alone are squandering public funds, you expect to celebrate wo ni twe ase? Zip you mouth and save yourself of public insults, Odwan!
