The Afrobeats dominance in Ghana and Africa seems to have forced many Dancehall artistes to switch their sound a bit.
It has become important for them to adapt to the new trend which is going global.
Interestingly, Afrobeats singer KiDi seems to be carrying the torch of Dancehall as well and providing a lifeline for the genre.
A quick check reveals that no Dancehall song has been adjuged VGMA 'Popular Song of the Year' in the past 7 years.
However, the story changed when KiDi used his global tune 'Touch It' to clinch the award this year after Shatta Wale in 2014.
The viral Dancehall song remains the most streamed track by a Ghanaian on Spotify.
KiDi has doubled his efforts with his new single titled 'Blessed' after serving fans with the remix of 'Touch It' featuring American superstar Tyga.
'Blessed' features award-winning Jamaican Dancehall artiste, Mavado.
Music critics have lauded KiDi for becoming a saviour of the genre in Ghana and attracting a huge collaboration with music giant Mavado.
