Rising radio star DJ Promise marks a milestone with Discovery DJ of the Year nod.
Narteh Quame Promise Dugbatey, widely known as DJ Promise, is making a name for himself in Ghana’s vibrant music scene. Recently nominated for Discovery DJ of the Year at the 2024 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, this recognition underscores his dedication to the radio and entertainment industry over nearly a decade.
Born on April 20, 1990, in Ada – Anyamam, DJ Promise’s love for music started early. Inspired by his hometown’s rich musical culture, he eventually turned his passion into a career in radio. In 2015, he began as a volunteer at Adom 106.3 FM, working under the guidance of mentors Rev. George Akwanda and Rev. Gabriel Ansah. His hard work didn’t go unnoticed, and he was soon officially employed, allowing him to climb the ranks to become the studio manager. In this role, he helps shape the station’s music programming, creating engaging experiences for listeners.
Beyond his radio career, DJ Promise has collaborated with notable media personality Afia Pokuaa, popularly known as Vim Lady, as a coordinator for her charitable Vim Foundation. His influence also extends into digital media, where he serves as a digital media executive for Multimedia Group and manages projects for various clients and his church, Restoration Christian Church.
His achievements include winning Best Radio DJ of the Year at the 2021 Dangme Music Awards, solidifying his reputation within the Dangme-speaking community and beyond. His presence on streaming platforms like Audiomack has further broadened his audience, showcasing his skill in blending diverse music genres.
