Johnnie Hughes Takes Over �The Rundown� Show As New Host

My Wednesday nights are usually reserved for relaxation and entertainment on television.

So as usual, last Wednesday, I grabbed a chilled glass of my favorite �something�, sank into my couch and then began flipping the channels for something spectacular.

I was nearly disappointed after ten minutes of what seemed like a fruitless search. But for my little niece, I would have given up. The 4year-old wouldn�t stop muttering �TV Af-yi-ka!� until I tuned in� Ooops! I nearly missed. How could I have forgotten about the Rundown Show on TV Africa hosted by Yaw Sakyi? That dude is something else and his loud laughter alone is enough entertainment for his admirers.

Soon, my clock read 8:30pm and then the deeply engaging montage came up in all its glory on Kwaw Ansah�s TV. I waited to read �The Rundown with Yaw Sakyi�, but instead, I saw �The Rundown with Johnnie Hughes�. I wondered; where is Yaw? And who is Johnnie Hughes? I couldn�t hold on anymore and I waited impatiently for the show to unfold. I knew I was in for surprises and I got served really well.

�Saa Okodie� by MTV awardee, Sarkodie was playing so I quickly went to refill my glass which was almost empty. Before I could settle back in, the video faded and in-comes a smooth-talking-fine young man who looked too comfortable for his �first day� at work.

I knew I had found what I was looking for, thanks to my niece. I quickly confirmed that I had seen him many times before now, as a smart pundit on the Rundown. And yes, he enriched millions of lives when he anchored the Goodlife game show on Viasat1.

He also sang beautifully on TV3 Bands Alive in 2008 and hosted the Valentine Specials on GTV! Wow time really flies, doesn't it? And people really change, don�t they?� I thought.

I must confess that I enjoyed every bit of the one-hour show right from intro to outro. I looked for faults, but Johnnie wouldn't give me any. The show was a perfect mix of well-coordinated pretty sights and sweet sounds that lit up my evening beyond my wildest imaginations.

The �Bonafide Genius� as he is affectionately known, was a pleasant delight to watch and I would watch him all over again if I had to pay! And, apart from Yaw�s �loud laughter signature� which was missing, I really didn't feel the void created by Yaw Sakyi. I must say he chose a good replacement for his 8 year-old seat and something tells me my Wednesday nights just got better!

Welcome �The Bonafide Genius�, you can only get better so keep the good work up. Keep being your ebullient, multi-talented and professional self and make use of your rich experience. Well, the shoes might big, but certainly the fine broadcaster deserves his right not to go bare-footed. And at this point, he has two options: to either enhance his foot to fit or to bring along his own pair of shoes.
