The highly-acclaimed King of Ghanaian comedy, DKB, has been unveiled as the host of this year’s RTP Awards.
The choice of the famed comedian by the organizers of the scheme was based on the comedian’s ability to commandeer any audience, especially one that is made up of seasoned and celebrated media personnel. His knack for side-splitting jokes on current affairs and the ability of his material to cut across all divides plus his capability of controlling any crowd makes him the best choice to oversee the Awards.
DKB’s choice as host also cements the resolution of the organizers to ensure that, this year’s event is shrouded with an all-Ghanaian act, from MCing to music performances. An all-expenses-paid trip to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is the enviable prize package that has been slated for winners in some topmost categories at the upcoming 5th edition of the Radio &Television Personalities Awards.
Winners for the ultimate, the Radio & Television Personality of the Year and two others, the Television Morning Show Host of the Year and the Radio Morning Show Host of the Year – will win a week trip to Dubai, aside other prizes. Williams Grant & Sons, producers of the popular Glenfiddich Scotch Whisky, and one of the sponsors of the event will also award some categories with some of their very expensive products. The company will also award the inductees for this year’s Hall of Fame, which includes Kwami Sefa Kayi, Rev. Yaw Owusu Ansah and Mrs. Oppong Apau.
The Awards will witness an assemblage of media icons, practicing media personalities, high-profile persons outside the media landscape and other patrons.
