After the various salsa clubs brought the Accra International Conference Centre to a standstill, with amazing dance routines, The Salsa Club of The Independence Hall of The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) beat the competition to win the 2012 Close-Up Salsa competition.
The lobby of the Accra International Conference Centre was transformed into a long tunnel with flashes of lights and wonderful live stage performances as well as energetic performances from hiplife trio, 4x4 and Salsa group from Nigeria. Each competing salsa club was tasked to present either a group or a couple’s performance in friendly competitions that gave them the opportunity to win for themselves wonderful prizes.
At the end of the day three clubs, out of the twelve, emerged winners in various capacities. The grand prize of Ghc3,000.00 was won by The Salsa Club of The Independence Hall of The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) While The Aviation Social Centre and T’Havanna Salsa groups took the second and third positions with the cash prize of Ghc2,000.00 and Ghc1, 500.00 respectively.
The other clubs that participated were Temple, Boomerang, Jubilee Pool House, North Sea Restaurant, and Fridays. The rest are Pentagon, last Hour Beach and B2D Salsa Club. The 2011 edition of Close Up Salsa Fiesta was sponsored by Close Up…the Closer, the better and Alvaro.
