Garrison Basic put up a vintage performance to win the 2012 Milo Junior Basketball Championship on Friday.

The one-day competition saw the eight finalists display amazing skills, character and team spirit at the Ek-Wak stadium as fans enjoyed some scintillating and breathtaking games.

The competition had all the ingredients: suspense, anguish, disappointments, exctasy and moments of individual brilliance.

At the end of a gruelling five-hour competition, the Burma camp based school came up tops by beating Central Regional champions Mfantsipim 29-21 to seal victory in front of the packed crowd.

Mfantsipim's danger man Daniel Owusu did all that he could to salvage the finals for the Cape-Coast based school but it was too little too late as his insurging attacks failed to yield the needed dividends on the court.

For a side that had won comfortably en route to the finals, it was quite surprising the kind of performance they put up against the capital city-based side.

They looked lethargic and uninspiring as Garrison used their physical presence to their advantage and 'bullied' them in a nerve racking contest.

It was sweet revenge for Garrison who beat Greater Accra champions Kalvary in the semi-finals to book a date with Mfantsipim who also accounted for their Central regional rivals Catholic Jubilee.

Garrison lost the title in the capital region to Kalvary School and therefore came gun blazing during their semi-final contest. Devoid of complacency, they put up a brave and determined performance to whip them 31-15.

Kalvary however took third place after beating Catholic Jubilee in the third match play off.

Garrison takes over the baton from Air Force Basic who won the competition last year.

In the Cheorography competition, SOS recaptured their title with another wonderful traditional performance with Cosmos School Complex placing second while 37 Military School took the third place.

In the singing and rap competition, MaCarthy Hill took the first position, followed by Mount Olive Preparatory School with Kalvary School grabbing the third position.

The competition attracted some of the top brass of title sponsors Nestle Milo and a host of other dignitaries.
