Newly-crowned WBO Super Bantamweight champion Isaac Dogboe reckons his victory over Mexican boxer Jessie Magdaleno is an act of divinity.
According to the 23-year-old WBO titleholder, his triumph over Magdaleno who prior to the bout boasted of an undefeated record of 26 bouts with 18 being knockouts, is an answer to a nation’s yearn for a world champion.
Until Dogboe’s victory, Ghana had gone nearly a decade without a world title and Dogboe believes his win against Jessi Magdaleno will open the floodgates for other boxers to bring home world titles.
“Saturday was a great night of boxing and l like I keep saying, the battle belongs to the Lord. The voice of the people is the voice of God and God heard the prayers of the people and he delivered. I’m lost for words and all I can say is, let’s give glory to God. Let’s all celebrate. Ghana has a new world champion and that champion is the Lord himself. We believe that the drought is over and from here on if all the athletes work hard and go out there with fairness they will be able to bring something home”, Dogboe said on arrival at the airport.
Dogboe on Sunday became Ghana's youngest ever boxing champion after knocking out Mexican-American Jessie Magdaleno in Philadelphia. The victory makes him the new WBO super bantamweight/junior featherweight titleholder.
Dogboe recovered from a first-round knockdown to give Jessie Magdaleno an eleventh round Technical Knock Out (TKO) to become Ghana's 8th world title winner.
Dogboe now has an impressive record of 19 fight, 0 defeats and 11 knockouts (19-0, 11 KOs)

GOD bless you for acknowledging your victory to GOD, you are a wise guy. for acknowledging HIS as your source of victory, HE will never forsake you. well done bro and always be humble.
I see nothing wrong with this humble guy attributing his success by the blessings of God.unless someone do not believe or do know there is something called spiritual and physical realm, who would have thought David out of nowhere without any formal physical or military training could defeat Goliath, or someone do not believe that one too?God gave a small group of Israelites the power to defeat a great number of nations, if we do not even believe in the bible, what of the history of the Israelis? God asked Cain and Abel to offer sacrifice, one of them,s offering was accepted the other wasn't accepted why?Unless someone hasn't experience the power of God, that is when they will condemn it, but they are real
