Former Bantamweight World Champion and World Boxing Organization (WBO) current number 1 rated bantamweight world title contender Joseph King Kong Agbeko will face Julias Kisarawe from Tanzania in a 10 round International contest sunday, October 5 at the A Plaza Hotel in Dzodze, Volta Region of Ghana.

Agbeko who improved his winning record to 36 wins in April this year when he defeated Hashimu Zuberu, is extremely confident about his chances and deemed this challenge as an opportunity to prepare himself for a potential world title bout before the end of the year.

“My aim is to climb back into the championship ranks and so far we are on course. This bout will further prepare me as I ready for a mandatory contest.”

He spoke the above in a telephone interview with the Graphic Sports in Accra yesterday.

He relished fighting at Dodze and told this paper he is eager to prove a point to his fans at Dodze
“Fighting at Dodze is something I relish though my recent bouts have all been in the Volta Region. Dodze is a beautiful town and I can’t wait to entertain the fans there.”

Dodzi Kemeh Is Ghana’s Best Kept Secret

Another co-headline bout on the night will be native Dodzi Kemeh who will continue his quest to get a world title shot when he sojourns to his homeland of Dzodze to fight for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa Super welterweight title against Daniel Aduku.

Kemeh, 28, who has a fight record of 25 fights professionally comprising of 21 knockouts and two defeats, in April this year scored a technical knockout victory against popular veteran Ben ‘The Congo Soldier’ Ankrah at the Aborigines Beach Resort in Keta.

The hard-hitting Ghanaian who has not lost in his last four bouts has vowed to defeat tough nut Aduku to guarantee him a world title shot.

“ I have set my eyes on this IBF Africa title for a long time, Aduku can’t stand in my way, I will brush him aside, I know he is capable of causing an upset, and he is a strong boxer, but I will be ready for him and for the challenge he bring on, he mentioned to this paper in an interview yesterday.”

Promoter of the bout and president of Infinity Stars Promotions John Kwakuvi says Kemeh is Ghana’s best kept secret.

“Dodzi Kemeh is the future of the super welterweight division, this fight is another step towards his desired goal of becoming a world champion, he noted.”
His opponent who is two years older and has a professional record of 11 wins, two defeats and a draw last fought and scored a unanimous decision against Emmanuel Quaye on Christmas Eve last year.

Aduku’s feat over Quaye did not come as a surprise to many as the heavy punching Ghanaian has upped the ante and also set his sights on the IBF superwelterweight title.

Nonetheless, Kemeh believes this is his time and nothing can stop him from challenging for the world title late this year or early next year.

“This is my time and I would leave no stone unturned to achieve my dream of becoming a world champion,he stated.”

Also on the packed night of boxing thrills will be hard hitting Togolese fighter John Koudeha who will defend his International Boxing Federation (IBF) African title against Patrice Sou Toke from Burkina Faso.

Four more undercard fights will be staged on the undercards. They are a super welterweight clash involving Kofi Manu and a yet to be announced opponent and a super middleweight encounter between Michael Tagoe and a yet to be announced opponent.

Also on the bill will be a Emmanuel Kwate Quartey alias Akufo Addo against a yet tobe announced opponent and Solomon Martey fighting an opponent yet to be announced.
