Abedi Ayew Pele is convinced his son Dede Ayew has what it takes to thrive at Olympics Marseille when he returns there on loan at the end of the current season. The young Ayew was effectively told he has no future at the Stade Velladrome by Abedi’s former teammate Didier Deschamps.
Dede then failed to clinch a deal after trials at Hertha Berlin before getting a season’s loan deal at Arles-Avagnon.
But after his fine displays at the World Youth Championships, Abedi explains that the loan spell should strengthen Dede’s bid to become a hit at Marseille.
“There was a suggestion Dede couldn’t cut at Marseille, that he had been declared surplus to requirement but that is simply not the case,” Abedi told KickOffGhana.
“We decided that he was still young and that he was going to benefit by going away and getting some playing time. He has got a lot of years ahead of him and he will grow as a footballer so it’s important that he takes it easy.”
Abedi himself made his name at Olympic Marseille and presently has sons Dede and Jordan contracted to the club.
