The National Amputee Soccer Team, would participate in a special Invitational Tournament in Argentina scheduled for November 23-28.

The six-day tournament, dubbed "Copa Brotherhood Championship" would be competed by 10 countries.

Ghana and Liberia would represent Africa and the rest are Brazil, United States of America (USA), Russia, France, England, Azerbajian, Turkey and Argentina.

Mr Worlanyo Agrah, Chief Executive Officer of National Sports Council (NSC) disclosed this during the presentation of sports kits to the team by the management of Puma in Accra on Tuesday.

Puma, a global giant in the manufacture of sports kits, presented equipment worth 12,000 Euros to the team.

The presentation was towards their preparations towards the World Amputee Soccer Championship, in Brazil.

Mr Agrah said the NSC had received approval from government to participate in the tournament and the Association of Sports for the Disabled (ASBOD) had been charged to prepare the team.

He pledged the NSC's commitment to assist the team to participate in the tournament because of their inability to participate in the recent World Amputee Soccer Championship in Brazil.

Mr Agrah said the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the NSC had initiated negotiations with the management of Puma to extend sponsorship to other sporting disciplines in the country.

He said, the German company, official kit sponsors of the National Soccer Team, Black Stars, had given positive signals to their proposals and was confident Ghana would be well kitted in international events in future.

Mr Manolo Schurmann, Puma Representative for Africa and Asia, said the company was impressed with the performance of Ghana at the recent World Youth Championship in Egypt as well as Ghana's qualification to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

He said Puma would continue the best of working relationship with Ghana to promote sports in the country.
