Ghana midfielder Haminu Dramani has joined French second division side Arles Avignon, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal. This comes after the 25-year-old snubbed a move to top-flight club Lorient who were on the verge of signing him.

Dramani sealed the deal with the club on Tuesday but terms of the contract was not disclosed. The winger moves on free transfer after opting not to extend his contract with Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.

Dramani started talks with Lorient over a move last month but says he opted for Arles after talking to Andre Ayew who spent half-season on loan at the club two years ago. “I talked with Andre Ayew and he told me that I must be prepared. It will be tough,” Dramani said. “I wanted above all to find playing time in order to demonstrate my skills in the field.” “So I was looking for a club that allows me to regain my stability and better player. It is the only reason for my choice. ”

The 2006 World Cup star in January threatened not to extend his stay with Lokomotiv Moscow after witnessing several racist attacks in the country.

He even told fellow African players never to dream of playing in the Russian Premier League because of a barrage of racist attacks.

The world’s attention have been drawn to the high levels of racial slurs in Russian football after Zenit St. Petersburg fans racially assaulted Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos with banana symbolisms.

Dramani, who played for Lokomotiv Moscow, says he is deeply worried by the trend and will never advice any African footballer to move to the Northern Europe country.
