Six Premier League representatives have been elected to the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in a series of elections being held by the Federation to fill the 24-member Board.

The election, which was contested among eleven of the sixteen Premiership clubs, travelled three rounds before the six emerged to join President of the Association, Kwesi Nyantekyi and Leanier Addy of the Women’s Football Association with the Division One and the Regional elections set to follow in the ensuing days.

The keenly contested election which saw Kojo Fianoo, Randy Abbey and Fred Crentsil as some of the members seeking re-election saw candidates telling delegates why they deserved their votes before voting which was supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission got underway.

Except Berekum Chelsea’s Emmanuel Kyeremeh who was absent, the candidates made last attempts to woo over the 16 delegates who gathered making them feel all important on a day that saw the the likes of New Edubiase owner, Moses Armah and Desmond Frimpong Manso making a first time attempt.

After round one of voting, Hearts of Oak’s Chief Executive, Crentsil pulled 13, Liberty Professional’s Felix Anson 12, with Moses Armah and Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah representing Edubiase and Asante Kotoko pulling 10 votes each.

Officials of the EC were compelled to initiate the process of a round-off in search of the two others to join the top four following a tie involving Abbey, Fianoo, Kyeremeh and Dwarfs John Fred Mensah on nine votes each.

With Abbey picking eight votes, one less than his first round accumulation, the Mighty Jets nominee led the pack in the second round leaving Mensah who have emerged as a surprise package in the contest with six votes, with Kyeremeh and Fianoo picking seven votes apiece to throw the process into another round.

After the final round of voting, Kyeremeh pipped Fianoo with nine votes, two more than the latter to make a maiden appearance on the Committee.

The results means the two most glamorous clubs, Hearts and Kotoko retained their seats whilst Liberty, Medeama and Chelsea as debutant come on the Executive Committee.

Tough talking Aduana FC’s Chief Executive, Kofi Manu, Real Tamale United’s representative, Jones Abu Alhassan and Heart of Lions’ Desmond Frimpong Manso picked four and five votes each to exit the race in the first round.
