The Minister of Youth and Sports Mahama Ayariga has inaugurated the Commission of Inquiry to investigate circumstances that led to the Black Stars poor showing at the 2014 Brazil World.
The inquiry starts on Monday 11, August at the conference room of the Accra Sports Stadium and will be aired live for television for Ghanaians.
Initially, a Ministerial Committee was appointed which included Justice Senyo Dzamefe (Justice of the Court of Appeal), Mr. Moses Foh Amoaning, (lawyer and sports administrator), and Mr. Kofi Anokye Owusu Darko, (banker and sports enthusiast) to a constitutional Commission of Inquiry, to ascertain and understand what accounted for the issues in Brazil.
Ayariga said, “The choice of a Constitutional Commission of Inquiry under article 278 of the constitution of Ghana is the most appropriate vehicle. It is a constitutional neutral body devoid of partisanship or the control or influence of either the Executive of the Legislative arms of the State.
“The essence is not to witch hunt anybody but to engage in a simple fact finding exercise and enable Ghanaians to know exactly what happened to their dreams in Brazil. The recommendations will enable us better reform our systems and give Ghanaians hope for better tournaments in the future.”
He assured the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the World governing body Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) of having no intention of violating any provision of FIFA statuses.
The three member commission has being given fourteen day duration to present their report.
