Ghana captain Stephen Appiah was looking very fit and sharp when he trained with the Black Stars on Tuesday night. The midfielders latest call-up triggered criticism from a small minority of fans because he is still without a club. Even though Appiah has been clubless he trains regularly with former his Italian Serie B club Brescia, a fact his critics sneeringly gloss over.
But the former Juventus ace answered his critics with his trademark precise passes, tackles and long-range strikes. Coach Milovan Rajevac is happy with what he saw in his midfielder and insisits Appiah is a key player for him. You can never go wrong with Appiah. He is looking very fit and sharp and he will lead us for tonights game against Zambia, Rajevac told Ghanasoccernet.
Appiah is one of three players recalled by Milovan Rajevac alongside Sulley Muntari who were all absent from Ghanas two world cup qualifiers in June. Appiah has been without a club for close to two years now but was recalled into the Ghana side that will play Zambia today.
