In a sharp contrast to fears expressed by some Ghanaians about the Group ‘B’ placement of the Black Stars’ for the Nations Cup tournament, Hon Rashid Pelpuo, the Minister of Youth and Sports has said it’s an opportunity for the Stars to soar high and win the ultimate.
The Stars are in the same group with neighbouring countries Burkina Faso, Togo and Cote d’Ivoire, in the 27th African Cup of Nations slated for Angola next January, which has raised concerns among the sporting sorority, considering the might of her opponents.
But Hon Pelpuo is of the view that the fixture offers the Stars the greatest opportunity to muscle their way to clinch their fourth continental silverware, saying “It’s an opportunity to soar, considering the pedigree of our opponents.
It will toughen the Stars and make them approach their matches with all the seriousness that it deserves, which would eventually result in lifting the ultimate trophy,” he told the press at the Media Centre of the Ohene Djan Stadium, two days a go.
