Ghana jumped four places on the latest Fifa rankings released on Wednesday for the month of October.
The Black Stars are now rated 33rd in the world and Africa’s third best country.
Ivory Coast are the continent’s best and seven-time champions Egypt are in second place.
This month’s 2-0 win over Sudan in the Nations Cup final qualifier and the 0-0 draw with Nigeria in an international earned points for the 2010 World Cup quarter-finalists.
Spain sit top the overall ranking ahead of the Netherlands, who second and Germany in third place.
The Fifa ranking was largely shaped by a total of 136 matches played in qualifying matches for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and various continental championships.
