Veteran striker Godwin Attram scored the consolation goal for FC Smouha in their 2-1 reverse at newly promoted Telephonat Bani Sweif.
The 31-year-old former PSV Eindhoven scored four minutes after the recess to halve the deficit for the relegation-trapped side.
Mostafa Mhana and Ivorian striker Bamba Drissa had scored in the 36th and 45th minutes to put Bani Sweif ahead.
But the former Ghana striker dazzled his way through the Bani Sweif defence before expertly firing home on 49 minutes to give the Alexandria-based some of hope in the game.
Attram was replaced after 78 minutes by Amr Fauod.
The loss means Smouha remain third from bottom.
