Ghana defender John Pantsil will take his Leicester City teammate Jeff Schlupp under his wing as he travels with the Ghana squad for the first time this week.
Speaking to the Leicester Mercury Schlupp describes his call up as a ‘dream come true’.
‘I chose to have the Ghana flag on the back of my shirt a while ago, so this is a dream come true.
“I told John Pantsil when he arrived that I wished one day to play for the Black Stars and he told me to keep my head down, work hard and see what happened.
“I’m absolutely delighted. It will be a very different environment but John has promised to look after me so I should be fine.”
The 18-year-old striker turned down an invitation to the German under-19 squad this season.
Schlupp, born in Hamburg says he always hoped to play for Ghana, where his parents originally hail from.
Ghana will play Sierra Leone on 12 November and take on 2012 Africa Cup of Nations co-hosts Gabon on the 15 November.
