Liberty Professionals coach J.E Sarpong claims a referee could be shot down one day after his side threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 at New Edubiase in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
The experienced trainer launched a scathing attack on controversial referee Awal Mohammed for aiding the home side to equalize.
Liberty defender Isaac Sackey Agyei was sent off in the first half under bizarre circumstances to give the host numerical advantage in an enthralling contest at Bekwai.
Diminutive striker Latif Salifu scored the opener by finishing of a fine move before Ibrahim Camara increased the tally with a solo effort.
But leading goal scorer Emmanuel Baffour increased his tally to 15 in 16 matches by scoring from the spot before Libertys Tuffuor Frimpong scored an own goal in the 89th minute.
Sarpong was livid with the performance of the centre-man and predicted the worse for referees.
Look at what happened to the penalty he took against us. What did he see? Im not saying that when my players dont play well he should not punish them, Sarpong said.
Im very much disappointed. The referees must back up in this country because I will not be surprised if one day a referee is shot down.
Referee Awal Mohammed is an apology to referees in the country and he must better sit up because were not going to take these things any longer.
