The Ghana Football Association has appointed Akwesi Appiah as stop-gap coach of the Black Stars.
The ex-internationals role was confirmed after the Football Association confirmed Serbian trainer Goran Stevanovic has been sacked on Monday.
The Football Association says it will headhunt for a new coach before the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers get underway in June.
Appiah was Stevanovics assistant at the 2012 Nations Cup where Ghana finished fourth.
The former Asante Kotoko defender took temporary charge of the Black Stars in September 2010 when Milovan Rajevac quit as Ghana coach.
Appiah led Ghana to win a historic All Africa Games gold medal last year in Maputo, Mozambique.
