Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi has demanded of clubs in the country to play a leading role in eradicating hooliganism from the game.

Nyantakyi was speaking to the management team of premiership side, Hearts of Oak in Accra on Thursday, after he had met the club to acquaint himself with their operations.

The GFA President was delighted with the response he had from the Phobians in their commitment to stamp out all negative acts from the sport.

“The clubs will play a big role in educating their fans that hooliganism has no place in our game,” Nyantakyi said during a visit to Hearts of Oak’s secretariat on Thursday.

“Club officials should rather dissuade their fans from fighting or attacking match official or opponents during matches.

“We have brought in measures to ensure that there is fairness in the system like the punishment on erring referees.

“We have the right channels to air your grievances so hooliganism will not be tolerated.”

The game in Ghana has witnessed pockets of crowd violence recently but the GFA has moved to deal with it by instituting stringent security measures.
