AshGold boss Yaw Acheampong is humbled by the plaudits that continue to come his way, but insists he’s not getting carried away.

A Premier league title is still on the cards at the Len Clay Stadium this season, with the miners having surprised many with the success they have enjoyed in the second half of the Ghana Premier League.

The former Ghana international has transformed the fortunes of the club with seven straight wins to take them up to second on the league table.

He always had faith in the ability of his side to compete with the very best, but he is delighted to see his hard work and that of those around him paying off.

The job he has overseen at AshGold is receiving ever greater acclaim, and it has already suggested that he’s destined for greater things in coaching.

But says he’ll not allow the praises to get to him.

“It’s good for people to appreciate the work we’ve done so far with the club, but we’re not getting swollen headed at all,” Acheampong told GHANAsoccernet.com

“It means we need to work harder and keep chasing the one on top. I want to take my time and take one after the other and we’ll see how it goes.

“We appreciate all the kind words from the fans and Ghanaians in general but such praises come with other responsibilities to continuing to work hard for the good of the club,”

Acheampong will embark on a short coaching course with Spanish side Real Sociedad at the end of the season.

The miners Premier League clash at Chelsea this weekend has been postponed due to the Blues continental assignment.
