Richmond Boakye-Yiadom will miss Ghana's next match at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations against Mali after he suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury.
The young striker missed the Black Stars' first game at the competition against DR Congo on Sunday.
He was initially expected to have joined full training on Tuesday afternoon but had to train separately from the squad at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
"[Richmond] Boakye-Yiadom's recovery has been slow. He was expected to have trained with the side today but has experienced a setback in his recovery," head of Ghana's medical team, Dr Baba Adams said Tuesday evening.
"We will have a scan on him tomorrow [Wednesday] to check up the injury."
The team doctor, however, gave a positive update on all the injury situation, explaining that all the other players are fine and in good health.
