Ghana team doctor, Baba Adams has confirmed that midfielder Mubarak Wakaso will undergo an MRI scan on Friday to ascertain the injury to his knee.
The Black Stars midfielder was carried off in the second half of Ghana's 1-0 win against Mali on Thursday after scoring the match winner from a penalty in the 37th minute.
"Wakaso will have a scan and the outcome will determine when he returns to training," Dr. Baba Adams confirmed to www.ghanafa.org on Friday at training.
Wakaso did not train with his colleagues and was joined by captain Asamoah Gyan, Anthony Annan and Richmond Boakye Yiadom on the sidelines at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, a day after the Group B match.
"Gyan has been rested as a precautionary measure after picking up some knocks," the Black Stars team doctor said.
Both Annan and Boakye Yiadom are recovering from injuries.
"Annan will rest for two days and Boakye-Yiadom for three days after which they will be examined again and when found fit, they will resume training."
