King Faisal fought gallantly to defeat visiting Aduana Stars 2 -1 in their Glo-Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Substitute Kofi Owusu sealed victory for Faisal with a well-taken penalty in 77th minutes. With all pointing to a drawn game, Sulley Mohammed earned the homers a penalty after Emmanuel Akuoko sent him flying in the box after the former got to the end of a counter attack.
It was Faisal that drew first blood when Yassir Boss smashed home a thunderbolt from a goalmouth scramble in the 11th minute.
Boss nearly increased the tally eight minutes later but his connection to a George Akowuah's in-swinger rattled off the crossbar.
Aduana stepped up their game and equalized in the 42nd minute when Alex Asamoah soared to head home a Godfred Saka free-kick.
The visitors took absolute control of the game in the second half, pinning down Faisal to their own half, but they failed to translate their dominance into goals.
