Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan has expressed his readiness to captain Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup after their win over the Chipolopolos at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday.
Asamoah Gyan whose fitness nearly ruled him out of the Zambia encounter said, though not fit, he sacrificed for the team.
He however lauded the Zambians for their splendid performance exhibited but believes tactically, the Stars were ahead of them.
Today was a difficult game. The Zambians were well prepared, they played like a team, I would like to congratulate them. But with our mentality that we have and the quality of players we were more calm today, we knew we could win this game and at the end of the day we won by two goals to onea win is good for Ghanaians and I think everybody is happy for this win.
My fitness level wasnt that goodI came here to sacrifice for the team, as a captain that is what I have to do, he told GTV in an interview with ace sports broadcaster, Kwabena Yeboah.
The Black Stars after beating Zambia 2-1 have progressed to the next stage of the World Cup qualifier.
