Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has rebuffed rumours that he is on the verge of signing for DR Congo giants TP Mazembe, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.
The 33-year-old announced last month he would be signing for a club in the New Year as he makes a return to competitive football.
Reports from the local media claimed representatives of the former Juventus star have been contacted by the Congolese.
Mazembe, owned by wealthy businessman Moise Katumbi, are capable of meeting his financial demands but Appiah told Ghanas leading football news outfit that the reports are wide off the mark.
I have not spoken to TP Mazembe. The report is not true. I am hoping I will seal something this month and I will let you know when I seal something, Appiah told GHANAsoccernet.com
Appiah has been without club since May 2012 when he ended a four-month spell at Serbian side Vojvodina.
He has previously played for Parma, Udinese, Brescia, Fenerbahce and Cesena.
