Ghanaian Premier League side Ebusua Dwarfs are on the verge of pulling out of the CAF Confederation Cup, just nine days before they take on Senegelase side ASC Les Jaraaf in the preliminary qualifier at home, insiders have told GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively.

The Mysterious Club will host the Dakar-based side for the first leg in Cape-Coast on Sunday February 9 at the Robert Mensah stadium.

But GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal that the club’s Chief Executive Nana Aidoo has threatened to pull the plucks on their involvement in this year’s competition due to lack of quality bench.

Dwarfs are without a substantive coach following the appointment of Rashid Iddi as Black Queens assistant coach while goalkeepers’ trainer Paa Twi has also abandoned post as he currently works with the female U17 team.

The club wants to avoid the situation of throwing money away when they are unsure about their ability to reach the money zone of the competition, hence tossing the idea of withdrawing from the competition, Ghana’s leading football website can reveal.

It’s been highly rumoured in the local media that Nana Aidoo also feels frustrated with the lack of financial support from the board of directors as he has solely financed the club’s activities over the past few years.

The heavy financial cost involved in playing in Africa inter-club competition could cripple the club as they fight to avoid relegation.

The club is considering pulling out of the competition to concentrate on their survival in the Ghanaian top-tier.

They are struggling in the Ghana Premier League as they lie second bottom on the table.

The potential pull out from the Confederation Cup has become an all too familiar option for Ghanaian clubs and bound to have heavy sanctions from the continental governing body, CAF if it is carried through.

Second-tier side Nania FC are serving a three-year ban for pulling out of the competition in 2012.
