Bechem United's Swedish coach Tom Strand has observed that Ghana has been blessed with an abundant football talent but the country lacks proper organisation and developmental planning.

The young Swedish manager of the Ahafo-based side believes that if authorities join hands to attract other corporate bodies to develop standard sporting facilities and infrastructural edifices across the country, the country would have harnessed more top talents than it has at the moment.

Strand said football in the west African nation would have reached an enviable height if officials had used money meant to develop the game wisely.

“Ghana is counted among the best football countries in the world but has got poor management in terms of football organisation,” the Swede told Frontpagegh.

“I think much can be done to improve Ghana football. I have observed that many a time the money which is supposed to be used in running football in the country go to wrong places, corporate entities should release money to football administrators to help bring up talented players to serve as a conduit to the growth of football in Ghana.”

He added: “Much to me, I think can be done to improve the standard of football in the country; the construction of various training pitches for club would add a bit of flavor to football in order to re-generate young stars to replace [Michael] Essien, [Sulley] Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah, KP Boateng and many more.”

Strand has already adapted to the condition in Ghana because the people “have embraced me blissfully and I am really enjoying my stay here because I even live with Ghanaians.”
