Ghanasportsonline.com can exclusively reveal that Asante Kotoko are closing in on their first summer signing, and itís a big one, Berekum Chelsea Player of the Season for the last two years, Jackson Owusu.
The defensive midfielder has recently been heavily linked with a move away from the Golden City park and the rumours have finally gained grounds as Ghana league defending champions slapped in an official bid for the Ghana CHAN star.
Ghanasportsonline.com can confirm that Kotoko have tabled a GH₵40,000 bid for the 27-year-old, who skippered the Berekum-based side in this season's CAF Champions league campaign, and he's ready to exchange the Golden City Park for Baba Yara stadium.
Owusu's representitives held negotiations with Kotoko officials during a friendly match between the two sides at the Baba Yara stadium last weekend and now it is believed that a formal bid has been made through a third party, and it is expected that the bid will be accepted after Berekum Chelsea revealed that they will let go of the player.
Chelsea managment member Oduro Srafo told Ghanasportsonline.com "We have received an official bid from Kotoko yesterday and we are also talking to Jackson to stay with us because he is a priceless asset of our club".
"But I can categorically state that we will not prevent him from moving to Kotoko if he so wishes to leave for Kotoko so we are ready to make business with them".
Jackson's masterly control of the midfield has attracted a lot of interest from several clubs in Ghana and elsewhere and now club board member Oduro Sarfo says the player is already on his way out of Berekum Chelsea.
