Ex-Hearts board secretary, Ernest Thompson has taken a stinging pot shot at the club’s board over its decision to appoint Mohammed Polo as coach, labeling it as given ‘an articulator to someone who hasn’t even got a license to ride a bicycle’.
The reign of Polo has come under intense scrutiny in the local media following their unflattering campaign since he took charge.
The iconic Hearts figure replaced dismissed David Duncan under controversial circumstances and has failed to win the fans over following the side’s inconsistent performances.
Angry supporters clashed with the board over Polo’s appointment but they stuck to their guns in the heat of the mounting pressure.
With the side’s Premier League ambitions crashed under their noses, many have taken a swipe at the board for the ‘unwise’ decision to appoint Polo.
The club’s longest serving board secretary, Ernest Thompson has taken a dig at the decision and criticized the board for the appointment.
“Recently, I mean look at the appointment of Polo. It’s just like giving an articulator to someone who hasn’t even got a license to ride a bicycle,” Ernest Thompson told Power FM.
“Look at what has happened to the club under Polo. He is a very great player. Polo was appointed as a coach some time back by our board.
“We knew what we went through. He was virtually fighting with Osam Duodu, who was the technical director.
“At the end of the day, we decided to let him go. He might be a good player but as a coach, I doubt.”
Hearts are in a neck-to-neck race with Heart of Lions for a Champions League qualification spot after missing out on the title.
